THE BLURB:
A Blockbuster New Approach
to a Mentalism Classic!
Jack Kent Tillar, the Academy-award winning composer and
mentalist famous for his creation of the Blister trick, has
tackled the flaws in most magic square methods and come up
with a brilliant solution. I'm sure you know the routine.
A two-digit number is freely selected, or thought-of, and
the mentalist quickly fills in a 4x4 grid of sixteen
numbers. Each column, row, diagonal, and group of four
squares add up to that number.
Hollywood Magic Squares, a 24-page downloadable e-book,
takes a classic, yet complicated, method for accomplishing
the magic squares and applies some simple, subtle, and
sensational touches to make it a powerful new method for
this popular effect. Also included is Jack's incredible,
unique presentation of the magic square that many
professionals regard as one of the best ever.
* Do it anywhere, anytime!
* Easy to do!
* Each completed square has 16 different numbers!
* Each completed square is different from others!
* No switches for pre-filled-in squares!
* No suspiciously or comparatively large numbers are used!
* No necessary crib!
* Contains ingenious, built-in checks for easy learning and
performing!
* Suitable for stage or walk-around performances!
Many have searched for the holy grail of magic square
methods. If this isn't it, it's pretty darn close!
MY COMMENTS:
Okay, so I wrote the blurb and I contributed some material
to this e-book. That means that I'm going to be biased by
what I write here. But let's get to what's important: What
is there that I'm not saying? First, I didn't compare this
method to others. In truth, this method isn't as easy as
some others, but it certainly isn't difficult to master and
certainly does overcome certain aspects of other methods
that many consider flaws. Also, Jack teaches a cribless
method, but you may want to use a crib, at least to get you
started. To that end, there are three cribs: one for a
briefcase, one for business card use, and one for a 3"x5"
note pad.
To be a devil's advocate though, I also understand that you
may very well be using a method that works quite well for
you. You may find that the method you're using to be more
comfortable and just as effective as Jack's. And, to most
spectators/participants, they will not be able to tell the
difference.
Still, this is a very worthwhile method. Jack is one of
mentalisms most underrated and underground mentalists. He
is regarded highly by many top mentalists and his work is
always practical and creative. If you're interested in
magic square routines, I highly recommend you check this
out.
