THE BLURB:
This is the book that Richard Osterlind has been writing in
his head for five years...and it's available at last.
Metalblast contains not the methods, but the real secrets of
metal bending. In this exciting new work, Richard Osterlind
discusses the mindset of the metal bender and the key
ingredients necessary to make an audience believe that
they're seeing miracles. What's more, these theatrical and
psychological techniques are totally transferable and able
to be easily adapted to just about any mentalism or magic
you perform.
If you're an aspiring metal bender, or simply want to make
the effects you already perform stronger and more impactful,
you need to read Metalblast!

MY COMMENTS:
This thin book contains three essays: "Why Bend Metal?"
"It's In the Eyes!," and "The Presentation of Bending (and
Magic!). The general topic is indeed metalbending and, if
you do that type of work, Richard's thinking is essential.
However, if you're not a metalbender, there is invaluable
information that can be applied to mentalism and magic in
general. Specifically, the second 6-page essay, "It's In
the Eyes!", is the longest and most important essay. It
discusses reading the audience's eyes and controlling their
thoughts and experiences. I'd say that this essay alone is
reason enough to purchase this. But the entire book
contains advice that will apply to any mystery worker --
metalbender, mentalist, or magician. Definitely recommended.
