Since everyone else is having a Labor Day sale, how about I

MY COMMENTS:
This is exactly what the blurb says. There are no real
effects taught to speak of as these are lectures on ESP
given a few decades ago in the 1970s to the general public.
David Hoy has a truly great voice and he can certainly
captivate you. I'll note that because these are old, some
of the information that David Hoy shares with his audiences
is out-of-date. For instance, the notion that we only use
10% of our brains, a popular myth of the past, is one that
David shares in all seriousness. However, buying this to
learn about ESP is probably not the main reason. It should
be to listen to a master speak and to study just what he's
giving his audiences and how he does it. These rare
recordings are very reasonably priced from The Miracle
Factory and definitely worth it for the serious collector
and mentalist student.

MY COMMENTS:
Originally, I was going to offer this because the
information here is worthwhile to those who aren't aware of
it. But, in discussing this with other mentalists, it was
quickly brought to my attention that most mentalists,
especially ones who surf the Internet, are fully aware of
the basics in here. An analogy of this product might be
that this book is kind of like teaching you how to correctly
make your bed. Only in this case, the author isn't giving
you one solid, tested method for making the bed, he's
providing several solutions in more of a notebook format.
Some of these ideas really won't work in the real world
without a lot of thought, if that.
Sure, as Banachek said, the information in here is
dangerous, but so is knowing how to use a knife. Do you
need a book on that subject? And yet you know that knives
can be dangerous and yet a beautiful tool. The information
in this book is like that, except that you probably already
know it. I can say that with relevant confidence because
you're reading this on a computer and on the Internet.
Make no mistake then, Jay Crowe does NOT get credit for
bringing this information to the mentalism community.
Professional mentalists have been using this knowledge for a
few years now. Those performers have pretty much kept this
info to themselves. And for good reason. Jay Crowe has now
shamelessly let loose a fairly well kept secret for a mere
pittance and now kids with access to the Internet and a few
bucks will be able to order and use this. It should have
been priced much higher. This is yet another secret which
will probably make its way into the public conscious very
quickly and another reason for mentalists to do everything
they can to keep as many secrets as possible within the
mentalism community. On the other hand, this secret is one
that laymen could guess and suspect and there are many
mentalists who go out of their way to prove that they're not
using this secret.
The ad is also quite misleading. The method, as I've
already alluded to, involves using a computer or a handheld
device that connects to the Internet. For some, this may be
enough info to tip what's going on but it's important to
know this because if you purchase this not knowing you need
the technical requirements, or not having access to these
devices, you'll probably feel cheated and disappointed. Of
course, pros who know of this information will feel cheated
and disappointed anyway.
So, because there really isn't anything new here and because
the book provides mostly sketches and ideas and not fully
fleshed-out, tested, and performed routines, it's difficult
for me to recommend this to professional workers.
