**** TELETHOUGHT WALLET ERRATA
Rick of Outlaw Effects reminded me about just how versatile
the SUC wallet is. So, there are things that the SUC can do
that the Telethought Wallet cannot. There is still a
function it can do that isn't mentioned in the instructions,
though. Therefore, I tweaked my comments and though are a
few changes throughout, my comments now end with:

"However, though the Telethought Wallet can do many of the
same things as the SUC, and since the SUC is currently
unavailable, it should be no surprise that I recommend this

21ST CENTURY Q&A

THE BLURB:
The Question Answering Act - or "Audience Reading" as it is
more commonly called today - has always been the major
effect in mentalism.

Q&A, while arguably the most powerful and memorable effect
in mentalism, is rarely seen today because it does not fit
into the "body language/ perceptionist" persona and style -
its only explanations would appear to be pure mind reading
or, as it was originally presented, communication with the
spirits.

Here, in this e-text for the experienced mentalist - is a
complete collection of original modern methods and, more
importantly - PRESENTATIONS - for this classic routine.

In 21st Century Q&A you will find presentations that suit
the modern performing persona and methods that defy
detection. And, as in all of my routines, the emphasis is on
subtlety rather than electronics, secret assistants, etc.

MY COMMENTS:
Before we get into the review of the book, please note that
this not available through Bob Cassidy. Jerome Finley is
handling the sales for Bob, so you can be sure that you'll
definitely get the e-book quite soon, rather than waiting
months to years for Bob to finish the book. Part of the
problem is the long wait purchasers have and that builds
expectations. For this book, there is no long wait. Also,
if you've already paid Bob for the book, contact Jerome and
he'll take care of you. Okay, now let's get to my comments
on the e-book.

This is a 25 page e-book that covers Cassidy's handling of
the classic Q&A routine as a complete act. Let me note
something very important: this is for experienced
mentalists only and especially for those familiar with many
of Bob's other works. In fact, one could say that this a
sequel to Hanussen Proof. You don't need to have it, but
the information here makes much more sense if you've read
it.

Also, The Hanussen Proof makes use of a special prop that
Bob uses for this act. If you don't have the prop, the
instructions on how to make it are included. Though the
handling will have to be a bit different, you can use
Richard Osterlind's Final Answer prop as an alternative.
This is my suggestion and not Bob's.

Other works by Bob are referenced, too. The Scorpio's
Message, George Anderson's Dynamite Mentalism, Psychometry
principles, Fourth Dimensional Telepathy, and other standard
mentalism techniques are used in the act. Some are
explained; some not. Also, the act is outlined and key
elements are explained. An act like this, though, requires
a lot of experience, knowledge, and performance charisma.
As I said, the experienced mentalist will not have a problem
with this.

Additionally, Bob has included an incredibly fascinating
history and evolution of the Q&A act. To me, that's just as
valuable as anything else in this book. And, for those who
aren't a fan of Plan 9 From Outer Space (rated by some as
the worst movie ever made), there is a wonderful tribute to
the Amazing Criswell, a very popular psychic from the 50s
and 60s. You'll have to read the e-book to find out the
connection.

Whether or not you feel this e-book is of value will depend
entirely on your perspective, and unfortunately that may be
an issue with this. Fans of Bob Cassidy who have most of
his work, if not all, especially his e-books, may feel
disappointed because much of this book is simply a
re-hashing of material from his older releases. This is
true and my first reaction after reading this was that it
should've been an extra chapter in The Hanussen Proof, or
some other book.

On the other hand, I don't think there's any question that
this manuscript's purpose is to describe an act that is
certainly a professional act. This is an act that's well
worth the money, regardless of whether you'll perform it or
not. One can certainly compare the act to Docc Hilford's
QuestA, another Q&A act which relies on using multiple
methods so as to make it difficult for the savvy audience
member to figure things out. Even QuestA didn't go into
great details about the techniques and it assumed that the
purchaser was a knowledgeable mentalist.

If you are an experienced mentalist and NOT familiar with
Bob Cassidy (and you should be, so hop to it and fill in
your library), then this work will be most invaluable, but
also frustrating as you'll definitely need to get other
works by Bob, such as The Artful Mentalism of Bob Cassidy
(which I feel is a truly important book for ANY mentalist to
have, anyway).

Bob Cassidy is one of the few whose works I'll buy sight
unseen and am always intrigued by them. Once again let me
state that this is for experienced mentalists only and
especially for those familiar with many of Bob's other
works. If you don't have The Hanussen Proof, I highly
recommend getting that. As to this e-book, after many
years without fresh material from Bob, I would've liked
to see a book filled with ideas not already published
elsewhere, but I highly respect and recommend what was
published here and am certainly glad I purchased it.

THE BLURB:
In 1981 Al Mann devised a billet tear he called the
"Mag-Eye" move. He enthusiastically demonstrated it for me
and gave me a copy of the manuscript, 'Phantagraphs' in
which he had first described it.

Over the years I've often been asked about my handling of
the move and the modification and routine I actually showed
him over 20 years ago. Here it is.

This is a 7 page e-book that covers Bob's handling of the
Mag-Eye Move that Al Mann presented in one of his booklets.
As usual, Bob's thinking is first-rate and this is a move
that all mentalists can add to their knowledge. It's quite
versatile.

Bob describes it a cross between an instant access center
tear and Millard Longman's Acidus Novus, but it's not really
either of those. The manuscript mentions tearing a 3"x5"
sheet of pulp paper in half and using that. These pads are
available from Wal-Mart (at least, here in the United
States). A piece of information is written on the paper and
it's torn up. The performer then reveals the information.

Bob Cassidy is one of the few whose works I buy sight unseen
and am always intrigued by them. Definitely, this is
recommended for the working performer.

Easily the only book on palm reading you'll ever need, there
is a TON of information in this book, and with no fluff or
filler whatsoever.

"But Wait, There's More..."

If all the PALM READER'S NOTEBOOK did was teach you how to
give dynamite palm readings (which it certainly does), it
would be worth every penny, and then some. But like many of
his other books (one title -- CASUAL LITTLE MIRACLES,
co-authored with Larry Baukin -- springs to mind), Ron
includes a whole lot more... including how to incorporate
handwriting analysis, numerology, psychometry, and runes
into your palm readings, allowing you to tailor your
readings for practically any occasion... from short,
walkaround appearances to full-length readings suitable for
psychic fairs or office work.

If you've ever wanted to add palmistry to your arsenal, but
were put off by its 'occult' associations, Ron will show you
how to present it in the light of modern science, making it
perhaps one of the soundest of all available systems for
readings. Ron's very logical explanation of how palmistry
works was actually the basis for the workshops that I

For those who want to get into Palm Readings, this is a
complete, comprehensive course that makes it very easy to

accurate in what is contained, though it doesn't mention
that there is a pleasant surprise that Ron adds a touch of
handwriting analysis to his palm readings. There is a
wonderful chapter on the basics of graphology, just enough
to serve as an appetizer to the main course, the palm
reading itself.

I will end with a small warning that this book is NOT for
the beginning student. If you are fairly new to doing
readings as part of your mentalism presentations, or are
trying to learn "cold reading" this is not a good place to
begin by itself. On another hand, in reading it I was struck
that there ARE indeed many tools that I think all beginners
SHOULD have and be exposed to, but if you are new I
recommend getting some more basic texts in addition to this
one. As your experience grows, you will find new layers of
understanding unlock and illuminate within this text. I
would consider this a college level equivalent text!

"For those who don't know my (Dean, the human who owns
Leaping Lizards and helps the lizards with the typing.)
background is extensively as a reader. Tarot, Palms, you
name it. I don't often come across a book for psychic
entertainers on the subject of readings that makes me go
wow. This book made me go WOW! Please Make Sure You Read The
Warning!

Richard Webster, in his Foreword to this book, says "It's a
wonderful feeling to start reading a book on a favorite
subject and immediately know you're going to learn valuable
information." I couldn't put it better. I also agree 100%
that this book gave me that same experience!

Scott Grossberg, inventor of "Mindcast" and experienced
performer and reader has written this master class with the
unusual title, "Bauta." A bauta is mask worn in long gone
days of Venice to disguise the identity, but allow one to
socialize and frolic with freedom and total anonymity. A
member of royalty could party bawdily with a peasant or a
wash woman could bed a duke with total freedom. It was an
equalizer in a way. Herein, Scott teaches you how to remove
the masks of your client/spectators during a reading,
quickly and easily."

MY COMMENTS:
By far, this is one of the most intriguing concepts for
reading Tarot cards that I've seen, although it's not just
for Tarot cards. At first glance, there are a lot of charts
in the book and that makes it seem overwhelming, but the
charts merely provide illustrations to make it easier to
follow, not complicated. And the technique is quite easy to
understand. But that doesn't mean that this system is one
that someone unfamiliar with Tarot can pick up and use
easily. Personally, I'm not an experienced Tarot reader, so
I wouldn't be able to use this effectively right away. I do
know enough, though, to understand the technique easily and,
had I more experience, could begin to use it quite
effectively.

A bauta is a Venetian mask and the technique revolves around
being to identify which masks people wear. The masks
correlate to the Tarot cards, much the way the do to
positions in a spread and have very definite relationships
to other masks. There are four different types of masks.
What Scott explains is how to identify one of these masks
and then you know what the other three are. And it is, as
you might expect, quite accurate. One must be familiar with
the meanings of the Tarot to identify the cards and their
meanings and the relationships between them.

As the blurb says, this is NOT a system for beginners. You
must already be a student of the Tarot in order to use this
and fully understand it. If you're a beginner looking for a
good system to begin with, I'd recommend Enrique Enriquez'
