THE BLURB:
(NOTE: This is just one of a series entitled MAXIMUM PREDICTUS. As of this writing, the other three are Rock Stars, The Hollywood Opener, and Test Drive. The themes are different, but the effect and methodology are the same. The other three themes deal with rock stars, Academy award-winning movies, and cars, respectively. So you can consider my comments at the bottom essentially the same for the other three. The link above to purchase Bon Voyage will work for each of the other four, too.) ______________________________________________________ Get ready for a magical vacation as the magician plays the part of a captain on Magic Airlines. A boarding pass is introduced which becomes a prediction of the flights destination. The spectator is the vacationer and has a completely free choice of where to insert a card with a picture of a luxury jet airliner into a deck of postcards from around the world. Once the spectator has inserted the airplane card into the deck, the captain reveals the location of the magical flight. It matches the prediction (boarding pass card) which has been in full view from the start. Instantly reset! - Very Easy to do and is perfect for magic or mentalism! - Comes with the beautiful designed deck, card box and instructional DVD including live performances. MY COMMENTS: This is based on a fairly well-known principle credited to Karl Fulves. Tony Chris, unfortunately, was not aware of it at the time of this release, so the crediting is incorrect. What that means is that you're not getting something revolutionary or original, but elegantly made props that can be used for solid routines. To some, that may mean that this is mental magic, but that's an assessment I'll leave to you. Two sizes of this effect are available. One size is for close-up or pocket work and the cards are about the size of credit cards. The parlour size cards are about 4x6. Each card has a photograph of the place in the world with its name written on the top half of the card in an easy-to-read font. Also supplied are extra cards so that you can have different predictions. However, you don't really need these cards. One of them, the card used to select the place card, has a picture of an airline that says "Magic Airlines" on it. I don't think most mentalists would want to use this. I certainly wouldn't. As I said, one can use other things, such as a passport wallet or holder, that would accomplish the same. The instructional DVD features Tony Chris demonstrating and explaining the use of these props. He provides one method (the one with a method that should be credited to Fulves) and then explains a few other methods. It is because of this, and the fact that the methods do not include new principles, that I say that one is essentially buying elegant props. This is not a criticism as I really like this and have already come up with quite a few ideas that I can use with this. I received the jumbo/Parlour version, but the close-up version works fine, too.
