MY COMMENTS:
I got Challenge Magic from Jeff Busby when it was released
twenty years ago and, probably like most who purchased it,
this was the very first video I purchased that had the type
of mentalism routines on it that I was looking for. In
particular, Radar Deck, Ultra Board, Predict-Tac-Toe, and
Viewed ESP Prediction were the effects that I watched very
carefully many times, took notes, and put immediately into
my repertoire. Though Richard has revisited these classics
on his later DVDs, it is the presentations on this early
video that inspired me and that I remember.
Most of these effects and routines have been covered in
Osterlind's recent best-selling L&L videos. I'd definitely
recommend this for those who are not familiar with Richard
Osterlind's work (this and Vol.1 of Mind Mysteries) and for
those who are fans of Richard's material, especially any of
the routines included. Next to Richard's other DVDs, I
honestly can't say that this falls in the "must-have"
category, but taken by itself, this is a thoroughly
enjoyable DVD filled with solid, tested, powerful, amazing,
and ingenious material from one of the most prolific
creators and performers of mentalism.
