Effect
The performer places a large board on the table. The board
is scattered with hundreds of different numbers and letters,
each printed in a random orientation. The performer shows a
plastic container with a large hole in the center and a
prediction inside. The prediction is removed and placed
aside.
The performer slowly passes the empty container above the
board, to show random numbers and letters through the hole.
A spectatator is asked to stop the performer at will, and
when he does, the performer drops the envelope onto the
board.
A random combination of numbers and letters shows through
the hole. Had the envelope been dropped half an inch away,
the combination would have been completely different.
Finally, the prediction is revealed and...it's an exact
match! The same letters and numbers are visible though the
hole, with the exact same orientation of each mark!

MY COMMENTS:
This came out in 2004 and somehow I missed this. I had the
honor of meeting the charming and clever Menny Lindenfeld at
Mindvention 2011 (his dealer's table was next to mine) and
this caught my eye. It's certainly a version of an old
principle and the props are well-made.
In many versions of this, the window of the card must be
covered as the selection is made. With this, that's been
elegantly solved. As the card is dropped, the gimmick
automatically does all the work. Due to the design of the
board which has letters and numbers mixed up and facing
every which way, it doesn't matter how the card lands.
Many may feel that this odd looking board and the props make
this a strong mental magic item, rather than a mentalism
item, but that would depend upon your personal performing
style and needs. Also, I'm not so sure I'd recommend this
for stage, but it would work well for parlour and close-up
performances. Finally, the outcome is the same every time
you perform it, if you know what I mean. Again, I stress
that these points are not critiques, but merely
considerations to your needs.

glossy, and colorful instruction booklet (that's like a
brochure), and the other necessary items to perform the
effect. I was quite impressed with this and if it's
something that feels right for you, I would think it serve
you well.
