COBRA KISS
$45
Suggested Retail Price: $50

THE BLURB:
Cobra Kiss is a brand new version of Russian Roulette
effect. You don't need to prepare any gun, nail, or big
stapler guns any more. With 5 pocket staplers and one
handkerchief, you can do the magic routine easily in
everyday life situation.

The 5 gimmicked staplers are specially designed that the
total size of the staplers can be minimized as small as a
normal Bicycle deck. So you can carry them easily when
leaving home.

The secret of Cobra Kiss is also powerful. It's very safe
and complete self-working. It has the following features:

-The audience can examine everything before and after
performance.
-The loaded stapler is selected freely by the spectator.
-The magician doesn't see when the spectator selects and
loads the stapler.
-The staplers are shuffled under a normal handkerchief, so
even the audience doesn't know which one is loaded.
-Only one stapler is loaded.
-No thread, magnet, mark or extra stapler.
-No stooge or assistant.
-No electric device.
-Reset in one second.
-Easy to carry.

Every Cobra Kiss contains 5 gimmicked staplers and the
instruction DVD with English, Japanese and Chinese
subtitles. In the DVD, you'll see the full instruction and
tips by Hondo.

MY COMMENTS:
Just what the mentalism world needs - another Roulette
effect, especially one that can be used for walkaround,
right?!? In truth, though, this one is really good. One of
the reasons for this is that superficially it appears like a
Roulette effect, but it's really has more in common with a
bank night effect. Specifically, the handling and
presentation is similar to one by Bob Cassidy (and several
variations of that) and that only makes this that much
cleaner. All can be examined afterwards.

What's new to this is the staplers. Each one is about the
size of a pack of chewing gum. They can be examined before
and after. As the blurb says, only one is loaded. The ad
claims that the staplers are gimmicked, but they aren't
gimmicked in the way that you'd think. They just have a
property about them that makes them ideal for this routine.

As for safety, the worst than happen is that you staple
yourself. I've accidentally stapled myself a few times, and
though it hurts, it's nowhere near as dangerous as putting a
spike through one's hand. Still, it's suspenseful and, to
the audience, there is yet an element of risk which adds to
the drama.

I have not used this enough to know how durable these
staplers are. I suspect that with good care these will last
quite awhile. If you are definitely going to put this into
your repertoire, you may want to purchase two of these and
then you'll have five extra just in case. (Each stapler is
identical, though I have seen them shipped in different
colors.)

The fifteen-minute (approx.) DVD is not in English (not sure
what the original language is), but there are subtitles in
English, Japanese, and Chinese. The English subtitles are
not the most accurate translations, but it's not too hard to
figure out what is meant since the routine is pretty easy to
understand, especially for the experienced mentalists.

The package comes in a polybag with the five staplers, a box
of staples, and the instructional DVD.
