MY COMMENTS:
This is a very clever, easy-to-do effect that combines Dean
Dill's Blizzard with Kenton Knepper's Kolossal Killer that
I've been having a lot of fun with. What creator Anthony
Miller has done is change the methodology of Dean's original
effect to create less space in the pocket or briefcase.
Those who have this great effect from Dean Dill will know
what I'm referring. In essence, you're working with a
single deck of ungimmicked cards that can be re-set
instantly. Again, if you're familiar with the original then
you'll know what's different.
There are some considerations and trade-offs, though. With
Dean's original version, the choice was a totally free one.
In this version, it's not. This does not mean you are
forcing a card, and the participants still feel as if they
had an absolutely free choice, but there is a certain amount
of control regarding which cards can be selected. It can
still be instantly repeated, although it wouldn't make much
sense to do that anyway since you've just proven you have a
complete deck of blank cards except for one specific card
which has been revealed.
When I first watched the DVD, what immediately came to mind
was whether this could be used as an alternative to the
Invisible Deck. Though the effect is certainly as strong as
the Invisible Deck, it's nowhere near as versatile. For
example, as I've already pointed out, technically you can
repeat it instantly, but logically, you can't. With an
Invisible Deck, you can.
In the video, there are two handlings. And it is essential
that you see both and not stop after the first one. Both
are very easy to do. I actually found that I combined
handlings to find one that I preferred. Both handlings
require some card moves, but they are very easy to do. The
latter handling, by the way, was contributed by Luke Jermay.
What's included is the instructional DVD only, which run
about 30 minutes. You need to supply a blank-faced deck and
a regular deck of the same color and design to construct the
special deck you'll need for this. It takes second to put
together. This routine is very strong, highly recommended,
and a lot of fun.
