THE BLURB:
The easiest Add A Number routine you will ever encounter. Sacrificing NONE of the entertainment value. FUNNY, ENTERTAINING and STRONG STAND UP MENTALISM!!! A watch is set to a random time by an audience member. Several people write down important years in their life. The numbers are totaled by an audience member. A comedy "sucker" prediction is revealed for a big laugh. But then.......they get a kick to the BRAIN when the TIME ON THE watch being held by a spectator matches the EXACT TOTAL!!! BUT WAIT, there is more. For the finale the EXACT total is revealed by giant numbers that have been placed below the chairs of THREE audience members in the front row. This makes for a final revelation that plays huge.... leaving YOU on stage to get all the applause. This is a CLOSER that FITS IN YOUR POCKET Running Time: Approximately 19mins MY COMMENTS: This short DVD contains a nicely put together routine that is fun and powerful. However, I will also note that there's absolutely nothing new in terms of principles. Kranzo includes an interesting history of the add a no principle by Max Maven and Stephen Minch, but doesn't credit the watch business that he has used, though he does imply that it's not his. Also, when I read the blurb, I was quite leery of that "comedy 'sucker' prediction" line and wondered if that had anything to do with the modus. Fortunately, it doesn't. It's just played for laughs and if one doesn't want to use it, one doesn't have to. What's nice is that this routine can be completely impromptu. If you have a stack of business cards, some paper (for the chair finale), and can borrow a watch, you're set to go. Now, many mentalists could probably figure out exactly what's going on in terms of the techniques from just the description (or the demo video). And, though, it does seem like this demonstrates too many different mental abilities in a single routine, I can't deny that this can be a fun and strong routine for the performer who's style this suits.
