Like palm reading, face reading is a form of cold reading
that can be done anywhere and anytime. I've seen a few
texts on this technique, but this one is by far the best one
to start with on this subject. It's set up like a workbook
and includes practice exercises and quizzes to help you
learn the material. A PDF of flash cards for one to print
out and use are also included.
Davis doesn't overwhelm you with everything there is to know
on the subject (at least, from other texts, I do recall that
there is much more), but just what you need to know to do a
solid, unique, and memorable reading. He covers body shape
and face shape, ear type, forehead, eyebrows and eyes, nose,
lips, cheeks and chin, and markings and moles, plus he
outlines a basic reading structure.
For those mentalists who want to learn a practical reading
system to use in performances, and be able to throw out a
quick line about a participant's ability during a routine,
this is an excellent one to learn. For those that want to
just learn the art of face reading, or add this skill to the
reading techniques already they already know, this is a
very good place to start.
