Mark Elsdon
THE BLURB:
Now available for the first time is The Inevitable and it is one of the strongest pieces I have ever created. I have used it as the closer at every single private and house party I have worked for the last couple of years and it brings the house down (pardon the pun). The only other performer who has known about it is Paul Vigil and this is what he has to say about it: "I call this "My friend Mark Elsdon's ACAA...," but he calls it The Inevitable; and it's one of the strongest and most clever uses of The Invisible Deck I've ever witnessed. It went directly into my performance repertoire and can quickly become the perfect closer (or encore piece) for you too!" As Paul says above, it uses an Invisible Deck, and I honestly believe it is one of the most powerful uses of the ID that you could possibly perform. The ID however is just one part of it - there is so much more to it than that. It is and it isn't an Any Card At, it is and it isn't a Prediction, it is and it isn't a Revelation. Playable as the most impossible magic or the most incredible mentalism, The Inevitable is as close to a miracle as a card trick can probably be to a layman. It is available exclusively from me and the price is £10. MY COMMENTS: Even if you don't do effects with playing cards, you may want to consider this one. It is incredibly strong. It's easy to do and, as the blurb suggests, uses an Invisible Deck. In fact, if you know how to use an ID, then I can say that's the most technically difficult part of the routine. The plot and the presentation are really what you are buying and so, in fairness, I'm not going to reveal it here. However, I can say that this can play as a very strong coincidence, an incredible prediction, and/or a powerful display of mind control. As Elsdon also relates in the manuscript, the principles are old and, after developing this, discovered a few precursors to this, including one by Francis Carlyle. It involves three decks of cards, which you have to supply yourself. You'll need a red-backed ID, a blue-backed deck, and a green-backed deck (or any other third different color/back design). There is some prep work involving a Sharpie and the ID that should take about 30 minutes or less to do. Then, to prepare for the routine, each deck is placed in a separate numbered envelope and all three envelopes are in a bigger one. In performance, the one envelope is brought forward and opened. The performer can have someone else do that. The three envelopes inside are taken by three different participants. The performer doesn't need to touch the envelopes at all. From this point, the envelopes are opened and the participants are asked to follow simple instructions as the performer shows the miracles happen. There are two strong moments of amazement, with the second being the strongest. Also, the blurb specifically states, "The Inevitable is as close to a miracle as a card trick can probably be to a layman." In other words, this is one of those effects that plays much stronger than it reads. Some performers may read this, see how it easy it is to do technically, and think that many laymen will figure out it and see through this, like they may have. To me, if one does that, that'll be great. That means that there'll be less performing this and when that person sees someone else fry an audience with it, he'll be envious. This is a six page PDF available at the more than fair price of 10. If you're interested in doing any kind of playing card mentalism/magic at all, this is one easy-to-do, powerful showpiece that you should definitely not miss.
