THE BLURB:
MK-MOD is a set of printed ESP testing cards. They were designed and produced in consultation with magicians and mentalists around the world, as well as with ex-British armed forces and Ministry of Defence staff. The most noticeable difference between the MK-MOD cards and most others on the market is that they do not have playing card-style back designs. Instead they have a 'test card' design, to help paranormal researchers calibrate video cameras and other experiment-monitoring equipment. The most important features of the MK-MOD set include: + High-visibility marking + Unmarked deck included + Double-faced cards (for some classic effects) + Double-backed card + Modern scientific back design theme + M.O.D.-style tuck box + Bridge-sized cards + Cards fit alternative Royal ESP boxes + Printed to top specification by Fournier + 300gsm card with smooth finish for maximum durability and authenticity Test Card Test Card is an 82-page book that not only describes and explains the features of the MK-MOD deck, but also includes over 10 full effects and routines that use ESP cards. Contributors include Ted Annemann, David Britland, J.J. Crimmins, Simon Edwards, Evie Harris, Jean Hugard, Dale Shrimpton and Roy Walton. MY COMMENTS: Simon Edwards has designed a very impressive set of ESP cards which many mentalists may favor over the more popular brands. The main differences between this and the other brands are: these are heavier stock and bridge size; they have a black, white, and grey scientific test card back design; and the package includes both a marked and unmarked deck. It also comes with a nice heavy stock, generic looking box, along with some gaffed cards to use. Of course, whether or not you like these cards depends entirely on your preference. But I can say that I've performed a number of ESP routines with the cards and liked using them. They are imported from the U.K. and are slightly more expensive than the other ESP decks (Vernet, Royal, Beyond ESP). I emphasize slightly because you do get two decks in the package. This also comes with the TEST CARD book. The 82 page book not only contains the manual for the cards, but also ten classic routines using ESP cards from many well-known, and many past, contributors to our art, such as Annemann and Walton. If the pictures on the website pique your interest, or if you still haven't decided on an ESP deck that you like, this is certainly well worth checking into. It's a very handsome set of cards that I can certainly recommended.
