Use the "Q-Singles" unit (included) to perform countless other effects with playing cards, billets, photographs and more! Collect multiple Q-Singles and you can build a system that will provide you with a lifetime of endless effects! MY COMMENTS: I have much to talk about regarding the "revolutionary" Q system, which is a whole separate consideration, but let me first discuss the effect. It really is a strong mind-control type effect in which a participant chooses a person of interest for the story, a location, and a time, all of which are in a newspaper clipping. To choose the person of interest and the location, you have a stack of cards (white cards with black lettering) and the participant selects one of each category. Each choice uses a different method. None of these methods are new, but all are very effective. The third item to choose, the time, does not use cards at all and also uses a very nice idea that I've personally not seen used before. The consideration with this is that the use of pre-printed cards is not organic and might feel too magicky for some. Also, the same goes for the newspaper clipping, but, to me, the clipping does look real and doesn't bother me in the least. The package comes in a DVD case, including the cards, the newspaper clipping, the instructional DVD, and one Q system gimmick. The instructional DVD is the same one you get for the SHOPAHOLIC, another effect in the Q series. So this DVD teaches the Q Network idea, plus two effects. If this effect interests you, or if the Q system interests you (see below), then this may be worth checking out for you. Now, let's turn to discussing the Q system. The biggest aspect of the blurb that I find most annoying is that Cosmo Solano has chosen to keep secret what the Q system actually is. I totally disagree as I think knowing what it is would sell more product, because this gimmick has been around for decades, at least, and there just isn't a variety of designs available (at least, not at the time of this writing). What I'm talking about is an i**e*. (Experienced performers know what letters those asterisks represent.) It's flat and leatherette, approximately 4" x 5" with twelve slots - three columns of four - on one side. It's a different design than I've seen. And it features some velcro which allows you to stack them in a way that each individual gimmick is easily accessible. I cannot say how durable this is as I don't use it regularly. I also cannot make a judgment as to whether this is a great or a wasteful product. Like some other gimmicks, this style may suit you or it may not. You may find that this will work beautifully for some routines and not for others, etc.
