MY COMMENTS:
When Richard Osterlind speaks, one listens. He knows what
he's talking about as he is one of the most succesful and
well-known performers of our art form. Using his decades of
experience, Osterlind contemplates many questions about the
art of mentalism and answers them here. And, regardless of
whether you agree with everything that is said, this will
provoke thought and force you to think about your
performances in a positive way.

There are five main sections labeled Parts One to Five.
Here is the table of contents:

Foreward

Part One: The Appeal of Magic; The Appeal of Mentalism;
Anti-Expert/Instant Gratification; Technology and Mystery;
Technology and Mentalism

Part Two: Setting the Stage; Levels of Mystery; Uncertainy
and Tension; Surprise, Elation, and Exhaustion; Humor and
Release

Part Three: Classic Definitions of ESP; The Power Silent

Better; Variety; Timing; The Use of the Stage and Gestures

Part Five: Long vs. Convoluted; Don't Ruin Surprises; Let Go

Around Yourself

Looking over the table of contents, you'll see a variety of
different topics that Osterlind covers. The most important
of these is probably his principle of the the Power Silent
Script. None of these individual essays are long. Most run
2 to 4 pages, and that makes it easier to read and digest
when you read a bit at a time and take time between readings
to digest the advice and information.

At $25, this 5.5" x 8.5" 88-page book is a gem of
thought-provoking ideas that will force you to take a
critical look at what you perform and how you perform it.
The result of that critical look will always be good
for your act as it will, at the very least, add something
invaluable to it.
