So, what is PSI-POKER?
The effect is a MULTIPLE PREDICTION of how a game of "Texas
Hold 'em" will play out from a shuffled deck. You hand a
prediction to a spectator for safe-keeping BEFORE you
introduce a deck of cards. The prediction is NEVER again
touched by the performer. The deck is shuffled, and another
spectator is asked to DECIDE WHERE the cards should be dealt
from. He cuts the deck to do this, OR HE CAN SIMPLY POINT TO
ANY SPOT IN THE DECK. His choice is FREE. It is emphasized
that HIS DECISION will ultimately decide the fate of the
game.
Now, two hands are dealt: one for the spectator, and one for
the performer. The game plays out in an exciting manner.
Ultimately, it is a very close game. The spectator ALMOST
forms a winning straight but JUST MISSES by ONE PESKY CARD.
The prediction is now read and it SUCCESSFULLY predicts:
1. Who will win the game and how.
2. That the spectator will ALMOST form a straight
3. The EXACT CARD that the spectator was looking for to
complete his straight.
It's a triple prediction which describes HOW THE GAME played
out AND THE EXACT CARD that the spectator was looking for!
It's quite an impossible moment. Remember, the spectator
could have decided to deal the cards from ANY POINT in the

MY COMMENTS:
I have seen a few effects with the Texas Hold 'em motif, and
some have been good, but none really excited me like this
one. It does use a set-up deck, but that set-up can be used
for countless effects, so the deck can be used and shown as
normal for many other effects before doing this. In fact,
you should already know the set-up and that makes this all
the more appealing.
The plot itself is very direct. There are no awkward
instructions or procedures. A deck of cards is shuffled and
then cut by the participant. Once the cards are in the
participant's hands, the deck never has to be touched by the
performer again. Two cards are dealt to the participant and
then two to the dealer, followed by the three community
cards and finally the two remaining cards (the "turn" and
"river"). The three-part prediction is opened and read.
All three statements (which are described in the blurb) are
shown to be correct.
What I really like about this is that it's hands-off, it's
essentially self-working, and one can use this to lead in to
another effect with the same set-up deck or to end a set
using it. The 5.5" by 8.5" booklet is 24 pages, saddle
stitched, and is, by far, one of the very best routines that
I've seen from Ben Harris. In fact, if you're a poker fan,
or wish to mentalism themed poker effects, this is a
must-have at a very fair price.
