THE BLURB:
A Russian Roulette with an egg, to be performed to any kind of audiences! The magician shows 3 closed paper bags on the table, he puts an egg into a fourth bag and the bags are mixed up. The magician invites a spectator to find out where the bag with the egg is, by pointing to any bag (no forcings, no magician's choice, it's a free selection). The spectator points to a bag, and the magician begins to crush the other bags over the spectator's head. Only one bag remains closed on the table. The magician, showing his hands completely empty, lifts the last bag very slowly, takes the egg from it and breaks the egg on a transparent glass. MY COMMENTS: I know what you're thinking: "Enough already with the Russian Roulette routines!" And I'm not necessarily going to disagree with you. This one, though, is totally different, totally safe, and oh so much fun. It doesn't use anything dangerous, unless of course you are afraid of, or allergic to, eggs. This effect was inspired by Scott Alexander's brilliant SHATTERED which used broken glass bottles. Here, obviously, eggs are used, and this one is totally safe. The worst that can happen is that the egg will break at the wrong moment. At least, though, your hand won't get a spike through it. There are a couple of considerations. First, you must be wearing a jacket to perform this. There is a sleight involved, and it is a very clever switch (which is why you need the jacket). However, it is very easy to do and is almost a non-issue. Also, you will have to clean the gimmick of the raw egg after the effect. If you really want to do this and plan on doing repeat performances in one night, I suggest you buy a second one so that you have spare gimmicks that you won't have to clean the gimmick between each performance. The package includes an instructional DVD, some small brown paper bags (which you'll need to get more of, but they're easily obtainable), and the special something that makes it all work. For those who like the Russian Roulette plot, but want to have some fun and to be free of the danger of the spike versions, this is definitely recommended.
